I am an authentic lover of people, purpose, and potential both personally and professionally. I am a licensed counselor, writer, speaker, and consultant.
During my childhood, I always had a curious interest in why people do what they do and how I can help them find their happy. This interest never went away. As an adult, I am blessed with the opportunity to explore this every day. The blessing not only comes from the healing I assist my clients in achieving, but the growth I experience in the process. While clinically I pour into them, they unknowingly pour into me. They keep me honest, they hold me accountable, and they challenge my level of bravery daily. For this, I am forever grateful.
I am a licensed mental health counselor with a sweet spot for helping people find balance to live their best life. Working in various settings for over a decade in the mental health field, I’ve spent the last 7 years running my private practice, Craig Counseling. Any given day, I can be found encouraging my clients and processing the patterns that keep them in unhealthy cycles. My philosophy is that most emotional, behavioral and relationship concerns come from a lack of balance. I dive deeply and rather quickly in my work with clients, always with intentionality in mind. I pride myself on this approach, as I have found time and time again that it yields a more expeditious and efficient outcome in comparison to traditional talk therapy.
I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University in beautiful Boca Raton, FL. Quickly thereafter I moved to Gainesville, FL where I became a part of the Gator Nation at the University of Florida. While in my graduate studies there, I received an Educational Specialist Degree and Master’s Degree both with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling. In my first position out of graduate school I moved to North Carolina, and haven’t looked back since. Presently, I happily reside in Charlotte, NC.
In case you haven’t noticed, I have a strong passion for not only helping my clients, but for anyone my arms or influence can reach. I am an avid writer, who has contributed to multiple publications including the Charlotte Magazine. I can easily be found journaling in the morning, or relaxing in the evening working on my next book. My reach further extends in the form of speaking. I have worked with schools and organizations providing relevant mental health education in the form of events, workshops and podcasts. The more people I reach, the more encouragement I can give and the more purpose I can live. Finally, I love nurturing other counselors in professional development. Through consulting I help counselors increase confidence in their ability to work with clients, as well as in creating the practice of their dreams.
